NEET PG 2020 

NEET – PG, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate, also referred to as Common Entrance Test (CET) is the common entrance exam to pursue postgraduate medical courses offered in government, private, deemed and central universities across India. NEET-PG is administered by National board of examinations and is conducted once in a year, usually in the first week of January. 

Eligibility Criteria for NEET PG 2020:

  • Must have passed MBBS from a University/ Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) 
  • Internship: Must have either completed or due to complete, a one-year rotatory internship training on or before 31st march 2020
  • Must be registered with Central /State Medical Registration Council.

Examination Fee :

For SC/ST/PWD (PH) candidates Rs. 2750/- 
For General/OBC candidates Rs. 3750/- 
  • Payment only through the online gateway.
  • Fees once paid will not be REFUNDED under any circumstances

Candidates may note that deficiency, if any, in the application form shall be communicated to them within 15 days of the close of the registration window.

  • The candidate will be given one week time thereafter to correct the deficiency and provide supporting documents if so required.

  • The exam shall be conducted on a single day in a single session.

  •  Each candidate can register for NEET-PG 2020 only once. Multiple registrations will be disqualified.
  • Steps for filling the online application form:  

        A) Fill the registration form for obtaining the User ID and Password.  

        B) User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and Email.

        C) After filling the application form, upload your photograph, signature, Left thumb impression & Permanent/Provisional registration certificate.

        D) Choose your Test Centre.

        E) Submit the fees.

        F) Take a print out of the filled Application form with Transaction ID or save it as PDF for further reference

Tie Breaker Criteria:

If two or more candidates obtain the same marks, the merit position shall be determined using the following tie-breaker criteria in descending order:

  1. Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in the whole paper (Part A+Part B+ Part C) will be placed at a better merit position.
  2. Candidate obtaining higher marks in Part C of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  3. Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in Part C of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  4. Candidate obtaining higher marks in Part B of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  5. Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in Part B of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  6. Candidate obtaining higher marks in Part A of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  7. Candidate having lesser number of negative responses in Part A of the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.
  8. The older candidate will be placed at a better merit position

Scope of NEET-PG

NEET-PG shall be the single eligibility cum entrance examination for admission to Postgraduate MD/MS/Diploma Courses for the academic session 2020 which will include the following:

  1. All India 50% quota seats. 
  2. State quota seats.
  3. All Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities across the country.
  4. Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
  5. DNB Broad speciality courses.

Medical institutions that are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG are: 

(i) AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS  

(ii) PGIMER, Chandigarh  

(iii) JIPMER, Puducherry  

(iv) NIMHANS, Bangalore

(v) Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

Eligibility Criteria for admission to the postgraduate course

Admit card:

  1. Candidates will be informed through SMS alerts and Public Notice regarding downloading of the admit card through the website from 30th December 2019 onwards.
  2. Admit cards are downloaded only from the NBE website. No Post will be sent.
  3. Affix latest passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card.
  4. Specification for photo:
  • Size of photograph: Minimum 35×45 mm with at least 75% coverage of face & head of the candidate.
  • A caption indicating the name of the candidate and date of capturing the photograph should be there at the bottom of the photograph
  • Background of the Photograph: White.
  • The photograph needs to display a full front view of the face. Please look directly into the camera with a neutral expression.
  • The photograph needs to be printed on a high-quality paper with at least 600 dpi Resolutions.
  • The photograph must not have kinks, scratches and stains.

List of Documents to be carried to the test centre on the day of examination:

  1. Printed Admit card with a photo attached on it.
  2. Photocopy of Permanent / Provisional SMC/MCI registration
  3. Any authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired)
    • PAN card
    • Driving License
    • Voter ID
    • Passport
    • Aadhaar Card (With photograph)
    • “In case, any candidate reports to the test centre with an e-Aadhaar card with Aadhaar number printed on it as proof of identity, the e-Aadhaar card should be a good quality colour print out with clearly visible photograph. The photograph should not have kinks, scratches and stains, and should definitely match with the candidate presenting the e-Aadhaar card. The decision of NBE in this regard shall be final”.
  • Indian/OCI citizen who has obtained their Primary Medical Qualification outside India and does not have SMC/MCI registration should bring their original screening test pass certificate issued on NBE letterhead.
  •  Foreign Nationals who are desirous to appear in NEET-PG are required to bring their passport (original & valid) to the test centre along with any other documents as a proof of they being a medical practitioner in their country.
  •   The name on the photo identification must match with the name on the Admit card. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage; candidate must show the relevant documents at the time of the exam.

Do’s and don’ts:

Do’s:

  1. Carry all necessary documents to the test centre.
  2. Reach the test centre one hour before the stipulated time.
  3. Be familiar with the address of the centre by checking one day before the exam.
  4. Arrange vehicle to commute, since few centres are in the remote areas, where public transport access is minimal.  
  5.  Have a good sleep on the day before the exam.
  6. Since the exam is in the afternoon, don’t skip breakfast.
  7. Wear a plain, simple dress.
  8. Avoid shoes since some centres don’t allow shoes.
  9. Please take care of your personal belongings like mobile & wallets. Few centres don’t have locker facility or place to keep personal belongings. 

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t carry any prohibited items to the centre. Check the list of prohibited items below :

(a) Any stationery items like textual material (printed or written), notes, Plastic pouch, Calculator, Pen, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, etc.

(b) Any electronic devices like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, wristwatch/Health Band, Calculator, Electronic Pen/Scanner etc.

(c) All ornaments like bracelets, Ring, Earrings, Nose-pin, Chain/Necklace, Pendants, Necklace with pendants, Badge, Brooch.

(d) Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap etc.

(e) Any eatable items opened or packed, soft drinks, water bottle etc

(f) Any other item which could be used for unfair means, for hiding communication devices like wireless/Bluetooth device, spy camera.

2. Don’t come late to the centre. You will not be allowed after the entry is closed.

3. Don’t talk during the exam.

4. Don’t switch places during the exam.
