What’s new in Marrow Edition 4 – Anesthesia

Dr Rama Krishna Chaitanya., MBBS, DA, DNB (Anaesthesia), FCCS, and a Marrow faculty, talks about what’s new in Anesthesia in Marrow Edition 4.

There are a few new Anesthesia videos in Marrow Edition 4, for example, on ventilators, and small changes in some of the sections like on pre-op evaluation. This is a high yield section and needs to be checked again.

Airway management: I have shown new pics/gadgets used and most of it is practical things. If you are an intern it will be helpful. For post interns, it will brush their practical skills. (As questions in main exams are like this).

Regional anaesthesia: Made quite a few changes.

Drugs sections: You need to go through again.

If you have done Edition 3 properly, please start looking from Subspecialty management in Edition 4. I feel this section will cover similar case scenarios as in your exams.

Overall my personal feeling:

  • If you have done the whole anesthesia properly in Edition 3, spend 2 days with the old notes along with videos at 1.5 or 2 times speed, after a week or ten days attempt MCQs. You can allot some time later for revision.
  • If you have done about 50% of Edition 3 then watch videos with notes or make your own notes (I recommend the second one ). It will take 4/5 days. After 10 to 15 days do MCQs.
  • If you have not done Edition 3 videos or you are an intern, the option is quite simple and watching all the videos will take around 5-7 days.
