NEET-PG 2026: New Exam Pattern and How Marrow Is Adapting

NBE has announced important updates for NEET-PG 2026, including a revised exam pattern and new tie-breaking rules. With FMGE June 2026, we also saw the introduction of video/GIF-based questions in the exam.

To help your preparation, we have already started updating Marrow so that your practice stays aligned with the latest exam pattern.

Please note: Update your Marrow app to the latest version to see the below changes.

Here’s what’s new in Marrow

  • GT 19 and the National NEET-PG Mock now follow the new pattern
Both GTs will be updated to reflect the new pattern – 180 questions (5 sections of 36 MCQs each). This will ensure that your mock scores stay realistic and comparable to what you will see on exam day.
  • All new GT 20 – live on August 11
We are also adding a new Grand Test – GT 20, to help you get more practise with the revised format. GT 20 will go live from August 11.
  • Introduction of GIF-based & video-based MCQs
GT 19, GT 20 & National NEET-PG Mock will also include video/GIF-based MCQs. If these appear in NEET-PG 2026, you will be familiar with the format. And even if they don’t, they’re a great way to strengthen conceptual understanding.
  • Custom Modules now support 36-question sets
You can now create Custom Modules with 36 MCQs. Use the Exam Mode within Custom Modules to simulate one section of the real exam with a 42-minute timer.
  • A new #GIFBased tag in Custom Modules
Use the #GIFBased tag within Custom Modules to practise GIF and video-based questions specifically.

You do not need to change your preparation source or strategy overnight. The core syllabus remains the same. What changes are the exam format, time management and getting comfortable with newer question formats. Start with GT 19 in the new pattern, use the 36-question Custom Modules for section-wise practice and attempt the National NEET-PG Mock.

We are with you through every change.

All the best!

Quick summary of what’s changing in NEET-PG 2026

The marking scheme itself hasn’t changed – what has changed is the volume. Fewer questions, same time per section and same total duration. In practical terms, this gives you a little more time per question, but it also means every question now carries more relative weight toward your final score.

I wonder why are they giving more time per question, Is the exam going to be tough (and that’s why they giving more time)
or that it will be complicated cases and less cue words??
